21 August 2024 – The US Department of Commerce (USDOC) has announced the preliminary results of the administrative review of the anti-dumping duties on stainless steel sheet and strip in coil originating in Taiwan. And the nickel price on the LME continues to be friendly and at almost 17,000 $/MT.

The nickel price on the LME commodity exchange briefly broke through the 17,000 $/MT mark yesterday (Tuesday). And today, Wednesday, the nickel price is also showing itself to be friendly and was able to jump above the 17,000 mark again shortly after the start of trading. Nickel is thus continuing the price increase that began at the end of July 2024 and is thus just under 2% above the average of the previous month.

According to the preliminary findings of the US Department of Commerce (USDOC) in the administrative review of the antidumping duty, Taiwanese stainless steel sheet and strip in coils were sold at less than normal value during the review period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.

According to the USDOC, the average dumping margin is 21.1%. The provisional decision is not yet legally binding, but experience shows that no major changes are to be expected.
